This is a social networking app created for sharing written work within a community of writers. Unfortunately, there is a ton of age inappropriate content including writing with themes of sex (including between minors and adults) and torture. There is also a community of people who are using the app for online dating, including young teens looking for adults to have inappropriate relationships with, and vice versa. There are plenty of teens sharing provocative photos of themselves publicly and inviting others to contact them by sending a private message. Strangers can send unsolicited messages to your child at any time when they use this app. There are public comments on posts where bullying often occurs. It is easy to create an anonymous account and there is no option for a private profile. All of these social features create risks that make this app too dangerous to use. No child under 18 should have this app on their device.
This app is very popular so it may be difficult for your child to understand why they cannot use it. Try asking your child what they like about this app. If they enjoy creative writing and reading short stories, there are safer alternatives for these activities. If they enjoy engaging in social contact with strangers, you need to talk to them about why this is not appropriate behavior.
