AddMe - Get New Friends & Chat
This app is very dangerous for children to use. It connects users to strangers looking to have inappropriate conversations. Your child cannot communicate with strangers through the app itself. However, it lists a users Snapchat, Instagram, and Kik usernames so they can be contacted through those apps. This app is rated 17+ in the App Store but allows users to enter an age as low as 13 when signing up. Their age is then displayed along with their photo on a feed of profiles for anyone to see. When reviewing this app we saw many adults looking for minors to have inappropriate conversations with. We also saw minor looking for adults (and other children) to share nude photos and sext with on other platforms. This app acts as a classifieds page for meeting strangers with the intention of sexting and sharing adult content. No child should ever use this app.
This app should never be used by children. If your child is already using this app, you will want to check their activity as well as any activity on Snapchat, Instagram, and Kik. Make sure they are using these apps to communicate with real life friends only and are not sharing any private information or adult content.
