Amino: Communities and Fandom

Amino Communities is for connecting people with similar interests in a user-created community, which can consist of several public chat rooms based on any topic. When reviewing this app, we found interest groups based around minors looking for adults to have inapporpriate chats with (and vice-versa). While groups can get shut down if adult content is shared within a chat, it is very easy for a conversation to start on this app and move to another where there is more privacy and abiltiy to share adult content. No minor should ever use this app.
This app is for meeting strangers. There are several chatrooms where children are having inappropriate conversations with adults. It may be difficult for your child to understand why they cannot have this app because it is so popular. Ask your child why they like to use this app. If they enjoy communicating with people who have similar interests, see if there are any youth groups in the community that they can join. If they enjoy the app for meeting strangers online, explain to them why this is dangerous. If your child has already been using this app, check their activity. Based on who they are communicating with and the nature of these conversations, you may want to involve law enforcement to protect your child.
